Diaper pouch attachment

Clothes pegs are awesome

Hand sewing is PAINFUL!
This was the second part of the "Diaper Bolt", where the diapers and wet wipes are stored. It is attached to the main body with velcro, and ripped off when necessary.

Paper mock ups

Figguring out the wall heights

VOILA! HALFWAY MADE!
(failed to photograph a couple steps)

Different subject.............

Took this photo some time last semester. Super nice walls at Epping Station. The tunnels of the new station section is covered in this stuff. Musta cost heaps

creepy..

Was curious about that other groups tribe, something about "lomography"... found there's a massive online community into this stuff.. I think it's basically just casual, snapshot photography

Quilt /// Nekton

Quilt by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

Looks like it's hovering off the ground

Was looking at quilt type patterns and fabrics

Zaha Hadid

Stumbled across some Zaha Hadid Architects work. Favourite architect all the way. Her stools here are pretty cool too. Looks like a very different way to view it compared with how an industrial designer would view it....or could just be her.

Sustain Me

Jen and I went to Cofa to check out the exhibition for Design Week before it ended

On the way to COFA, passed heaps of these poles all decorated...mmm...prettae.....
anyone know who did them up? I'm guessing it's the COFA students!

Home Brand Bracelet 2007 - Mark Vaarwerk
made of plastic home Brand tomato sauce bottles and sterling silver

Intensive Care Bracelet 2007 (The yellow bangle) - Mark Vaarwerk
made of plastic Vaseline intensive care lotion, aloe vera bottles, and sterling silver

These bangles by Mark Vaarwerk were probably my favourite designs at the exhibition, because of how creative they were with the materials, and how finished they look, even though the materials are like WHOA! How awesome to wear and say you're wearing a vaseline container!

/\ \/ /\ \/ /\

In the photographs of this, on brochures and websites and stuff, this looked more organic and earthy, but when we saw it live it was more metallic and cold looking. It's MASSIVE though! It's the first thing you see when you walk into the exhibition because it sits in the corner of the room all isolated in the darkness. Then next to it on the other side are these smaller lights, which get all overwhelmed by this massive giant one.
Cradle by David Trubridge

This clothing store right next to COFA always has the most interesting window displays...paintings, installations, bugs...... way to catch your attention! I bet they get creative awesome COFA students to design the displays!!

clean and tidy

bit more research

is it for a boy or girl? :D

*blank stare* uhhh...............................boy?

so tiny baby space! i guess its for a newborn then once they hit like 5 months or so, they got to find another use for it? So thin as well...don't think it's enough padding for a baby

defunked concept

Wasn't going to post these drawings due to boringness, or what I would have thought is just scribbles to anyone else but me, but Nikki (zxw) mentioned that the thought process is interesting? And apparently if the thinking process is opened up and communicated, it's easier to get other people's ideas and input. They were presented last wednesday and shut down. But it's the thought that counts right?

Worked out the technical part, where a button would be pushed which opened and shut a couple of trap doors, allowing the powder to be kept in then released one portion at each push.

Was trying to steer away from a box, but still keep it masculine and angular, but it is still kind of boxy.
They're all on A3 paper. If my current idea works out, it will be a massive improvement from this powder dispenser design as shown in these drawings.

Secretly snapped this at work!!! so cute! where do i get one?

.........uh.....staples..?

Tried making a mock up yesterday..hand-sewing, but it looks so crafty and home-done. Borrowed a sewing machine but its faulty, so the knob thing has to be turned constantly instead of pressing the pedal.

If I'm not careful with the sewing and don't organise my time enough.. my studio assignment worth 50% is going to end up like Sydney's public transport......
Held together by staples! AHHHHH!!

The first time I noticed this, couple years ago, (im not really from sydney) thought it was just some rebel kids vandalising the train....... cept it's EVERYWHERE!

Diapers, Diapers, Diapers

Figuring out the age for which i should design for... either a newborn to one year old or newborn to when they are toilet trained.

One cool dad:

Between 18 Months and 3 years is what the doctors, child health experts and other parents say is the time when babys develop bowel and bladder control. If the design was big enough for toddler, then, They can just get up and walk away, so no point building walls and all that to hold them in. Just a matter of getting them to lie still. So I think that if my design is for newborns til around 12 months that would be alright, and if using for a toddler, they can just keep the walls down, but still use it. Also i think after a while they start using pull up pants..like those Huggies ads n stuff

Reusable diapers

Very convenient, extremely environmentally friendly...so much plastic and materials used for the disposable diapers and they cant be recycled

Check out my friend, Zi Xin Wong in Melbourne, studying architecture:

It looks so oldskool!

Sigg Jones - From Illustrations to Animation

Saw this off SneakerFreaker, its by a French group, Supinfocom......

Aren't these the sweetest shoes?? Even though i usually dislike pink shoes with wings on them, these kinda work! maybe cos of the structure and rubbery grippy things it uses, like over the laces and near the sole. If only they existed!

They even incorporated Nike, Puma, Adidas and Reebok. I see the Pump off the Reebok Vintage Pumps...mmmmmmmmmmmm...

Massive Moobies haha
What software you reckon they use to make these??
They could sell these things as little figuring thingys, collectibles..
To read the Sigg Jones interview: http://www.sneakerfreaker.com/articles/Sigg-Jones-Magic-Dunk-Interview/

And if that doesn't impress you:
The animation.
PHWOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
SO MUCH ACTION-NESS!!! or like um movement. Feels so fast paced

barbed wire and babies?

X-crib - Barbed Wire Baby Crib by John Greg Ball

It is a bout man made boundaries that restrict our life...and inspired by live stock and barbed wire. the x shape is supposed to encourage the baby to stay in it.

In terms of visual language, why would anyone want to associate barbed wire with their baby? And how can they associate a a kid with live stock?? I would have thought make the baby feel safe comfortable and entertained...not jailed in?

To Dream in Walking Life - Emma Van Leest
- featured in Inside Out Blog

woooooooowwww I thought i knew what tedious was, but damn. Was thinking one wrong slip would destroy the entire piece, but when there are slips, she cuts the piece off. eg. if it was a lady and she accidentally cut it wrong, she will just cut the lady off and change the design. Only once did she make a huge mistake that she had to dispose of the entire piece. I think it's good how she adapts to what she has when she makes tiny mistakes. I wonder if this would apply with model-making tasks, instead of keep scrapping entire things and restarting. hmmm...

Latte Art

I'm still trying to master the leaf shape, but this site has some hectic latte art!

I guess it's a competition or convention or something where all the baristas come together and show off. My dream job. Or one of.
Can you taste food colouring?

Baby Products - RESEARCH

I went to "Babies Galore", Coles and some other places to get info on what's out there on milk powder dispensers and how it works and took note of the forms and portions and all that good stuff. A couple photos taken:

Bottles

Milk Powder Dispensers

This is a milk powder dispenser that has another container inside for you to put food in. It has no portion control. basically a container with a hole at the top.
This is pretty awesome design:
Take the lid off, fill each section with the right amount. Close lid. open the tube to the red thing when it is feeding time to tip contents in.

Baby Powder
Needed some information on portions and how it works

what a cute baby
And yes, i stood in the baby aisle taking notes for 10/15 or so minutes
