Melbourne!

Union Lane, Melbourne. That's Nikki.

Went to Melbourne for a bit, met up with friends. Much needed break, was so fun, there's always something to do there, always something new to discover. I think it's much more chill and slow paced there compared to Sydney, more..stop to smell the flowers, sit and enjoy the sun sorta place...but then again, could feel like that because we on holidays now...... seems like there is more art and creativity there as well! Like saw all this graffiti that blew my mind, and all these arty markets, and cafes and bars where the interior all pre-planned, well thought out and whatnot. Or maybe I just don't get out enough in Sydney?

Forgot the name of the building but was looking for a sneaker store, and came across this. The long tube things are for air ventilation for the building, to cool it down.

This was by far my favourite graffiti wall! Don't know how planned it was but it looks like alot of people collaborated. Can't really stand tagging, just makes a mess of everything. It's like they don't know what else to do so they just scribble their name everywhere. Are they tagging for the sake of tagging, because they have nothing else to say or show? Althought graffiti is all about making everything up on the spot, I like the thought out stuff, stickers, stencils, images, portraits and all that, although I'm sure some people make it up as they go along.


Saw the Architecture Masters Graduate Exhibition in Melbourne Uni... was very impressed!!! Presentation and all the work they put into it.... and saw some 2D relief as well! we did this in first year uni, they just showing us how it should be done:

Markets!

Went to heaps of markets there, the best was definetely the Rose Street Artists Market, because everything is so crafty and hand made. Bought something from this guy Neil Thomas, who made this food turning thing for the cafe there. way to promote! He does it full time and everything, and super talkative and friendly. I guess the one's with the best business are the ones who know how to make conversation and keep the customers entertained. (and of course have some skill)
Hello Sailor Market
All the oldskool vintage stuff was sold here, don't think we bought anything here though. They closed down a bar and used two levels for the sellers and their stuff. People were sipping bloody mary's while browsing. Good idea. Don't know about bloody mary's though...vodka, tomato juice and tobasco sauce!!! never tried it, but sounds.......................interesting...
Camberwell Market
The whole thing is open air and it's a massive space because it's held in a carpark. Quite a range of stalls, some people selling their old junk, saw these nice laser cut rings, fruits, art, vegetables, plants, clothes, crafty jewellery, second hand books, big ass boots, and heaps of other stuff. Oh there was this one dude selling (or trying to sell) vintage uniform hats, should have taken a photo.

My friend bought some rosemary and mint for her mum. Mint reminds me of when i was a little kid, picking the mint leaves and eating them out of my neighbours garden.

Took more notice of all the architecture in Melbourne this trip because I was staying with a friend who just graduated from Melbourne Uni, with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies. This is her favourite building. or one of them. i think.

Took sooooooooooooo many photos, i think this one is from the art gallery, where there was this talkative security guard, Don. Whipped out his little notepad to show us what he does while waiting for rotation (when they changed rooms), had some ballpoint drawings from the different paintings he stands by everyday. Very inspirational. He said there are like 60,000 years of art or something...was talking about his favourite artists of all time..man he knows so much
