Treasuring TIme

I was aiming to capture short moments in time that don't last very long, such as free falling and parachuting. These moments are so short lived, yet people value that time in the air because of that excitement and adrenaline rush. I have designed a different way of capturing a memory from this activity. As the target market are probably outgoing people, they could want a fun way of capturing these moments, besides photographs.

The target market of this product is people who sky dive. It is clamped to the user's parachute strap, near to their shoulder, after their parachute has expanded and they are floating down to earth. And then the trigger is pressed with one hand, which then releases squirts of paint that would project onto the top of the roof of the parachute. After a jump, a pattern of paint patterns, (maybe similar to the style of Jackson Pollock) would be left. It allows the user to create an art work without having any art experience necessary, only maybe some sky diving lessons would be useful. As parachutes eventually need to be replaced, instead of disposing of the remains of the parachute, it could possibly be framed, or a portion of the parachute could be framed, allowing the user to look back on the art piece to be brought back memories of each jump.

Hey JT, i really like the idea u captured. It is a really sensitive topic where one can really regret OR cherish BUT the only critisism here is that I think it could have been alot better established IF u had stuck with one of your initial ideas where more development could have taken place.

What i like about this design is how you mixed the idea of creating an artwork from a quick moment in time. As well as the use of a parachute after it has been deployed, instead of being disposed of, it can be used as a form of memorabilia. What i want to criticise on is if the product could somehow be able to move off the strap, so you can control the squirts.

Great idea, i know u struggled heaps with the overall idea but with nurturing and time i can see it paid off. The idea fitted great into the brief in capturing the one moment in time. Sky diving maybe a be one thing that a lot of people carry out once in thier life and having this paint device would be great. The overall form of the object is confusing with this device but i can see some meaning in the spiral. Great job jess.

i like the idea of an amateur being able to create an artwork without knowing, also the way of capturing such a moment is interesting. i can see how this would be a suitable product for an adrenalin junkie such as a parachuter.

Hi Jess, I personally like your idea.
and I like the way you capturing time. You mentioned above that you were inspired by art work and it is quit well-matched with your design.I have nothing to say about any other improvement.. maybe it will be good to have many colour so that customer can choose what they like. Well done Jess :)
